Your faith is wanted…alive.

“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?”
James 2:19-20

There’s a war going on and we’re all in it. It’s a spiritual war and God has a role and purpose for every Christian soldier on the planet. There is never a time for apathetic and indifferent Christianity.

It’s great to believe in God. It’s great to know that He exists. It’s great to think about Him. The devil does those things, too.

We’re called to do more than that, though. Our calling is to fight the good fight of faith, and the result of that personal engagement should be evident in our lives.

Our righteous works can never save our souls and buy us favor with God. Ephesians 2:8-9 and Titus 3:5 make that abundantly clear. But if we’re saved Christian soldiers we ought to be obedient servants to our King of Kings.

What would happen if a soldier arrived on a battlefield with his platoon and then sat there refusing to fight? Is he a soldier with a job to do? Yes. Is he fighting and doing his job? No.

That soldier would not last long.

Just as Christian faith without works is dead, so is a soldier wearing a military uniform who refuses to do his job. They’re both pointless.

You can be arrested and jailed for wearing a U.S. military uniform, medals, and awards without actually having served to earn them. A simple search of “stolen valor” on the internet will reveal hundreds of videos where real soldiers confront people who are dressed like decorated soldiers in public.

These are phony soldiers and imposters. They want the accolades and adoration, but without the work. Sadly, there are Christians and non-Christians sitting in church who do the same thing.

My prayer today is that those who call themselves Christians would engage their roles with fervor and zeal. May we all seek God to make sure that we’re doing EXACTLY what we should be doing, and not just wearing a Christian uniform on the sidelines.
Starting with me first.
I don’t want to just be saved and heaven bound.
“Lord, please show me where, how, and when you want me to serve you.”

Keep your armor on.
