About

I never thought much about the armor of God. I had heard about the armor of God in church and read the verses in Ephesians 6. I sort of knew about the various pieces we need to wear, but that was only head knowledge for me.

Once in a while, a kids program at church would feature little children dressed as Roman soldiers with plastic breastplates and cardboard swords. That was the extent of my picture of God’s armor, little kids dressed like Roman soldiers from 2,000 years ago.

It wasn’t exactly applicable to any situation I would ever face in life…and it still isn’t, which is why I now loathe such physical costumes as a valid picture of actual modern spiritual warfare.

God handed me a series of trials in my mid-twenties which opened my eyes to the reality of spiritual warfare. Those things involved a serious diagnosis with my health, the suicide of a friend and co-worker, a strained relationship with a tormented person, and the rapid loss of my hard-earned savings.

I had to seek Christ for help with my issues in life. I had no other options. The trials of life were feeling like actual war, and that whole “armor of God” thing was becoming an absolute necessity. Surely God could see what I was facing and would help me through it, right?

Absolutely. I found the Savior. I mean I really found Him, just like the Bible says.

God met me and began to help me get on the right path physically, emotionally, and spiritually. He delivered me from many fears and bondages to sin.

In His Word I found answers to so many questions about the battles I was facing. In prayer I found the friend who sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24)

God opened my eyes to see WHY things are the way they are: we are ALL involved in a battle of bad versus good, light versus darkness, God versus Satan.

The armor of God is crucial for us to be fully protected and engaged as Christian soldiers, because Satan is aiming to distract us, disrupt us, and destroy our service for Christ. Do you know and wear God’s armor everyday?

God restored me. He led me to a great job and allowed me to begin preaching and teaching in a local church. He has allowed me to share the Gospel for many years in the County jail and nursing homes. He brought me a wonderful Christian wife who is my partner in ministry. I attend and serve in my local church alongside faithful believers who love the LORD.

I’m the richest man on the planet…not the wealthiest by any means, but certainly the richest in God’s grace…amazing grace which I don’t deserve at all.

This blog is simply those things the Lord has taught me about Scripture, warfare, and life in general. My goal is to encourage believers to pray, fight, and keep the faith in the midst of life’s trials.

Never stop fighting until the fight is done.

Keep your armor on.
