God’s Word is a Hammer

“Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?”
Jeremiah 23:29

Imagine if you had a pile of rocks (problems) in front of you and you had to bust them up with a sledgehammer (Scripture).
What would that look like?

Well, first you have to select a specific rock to aim for.
If you’re going to hit a specific problem with Scripture, then you need to apply specific Scripture for that problem.

For example, if you’re battling a spirit of covetousness or jealousy, then hammer it with 1 Timothy 6:6
“But godliness with contentment is great gain.”

Or, if you’re battling weariness in your Christian walk, then hammer it with Galatians 6:9
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Once you’ve identified a problem rock, get into stance and swing the hammer. You’re going to have to learn the stance that works best for you.

Personally, my favorite stance for handling the hammer of God’s Word is kneeling at my bedside and swinging His hammer in prayer.

I’ve swung and broken a lot of troubling rocks over the years simply by taking the time to pray and apply the right truth where it’s needed most.

You don’t have to be 6ft tall and 200lbs to swing His hammer, but you DO need to set aside time to study His Word sincerely if you desire to break up your problems.

Breaking rocks will always be noticed.
If you’ve never smashed rocks with a hammer, I can promise you one thing:
it gets people’s attention.
When you start using God’s Word to bust up your bad habits and selfish tendencies, people will notice a difference as God changes you.

And that’s the point, to show others the power of His Word and what His hammer can do in their lives, too.

Swing the hammer of His Word.
Break up your problems.
Smash every lie with truth.

Repeat as often as necessary.

Keep your armor on.
