One Day No More Evil

“For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.”
Psalm 5:4

Have you ever lived in a bad neighborhood?
I’ve lived in a couple of bad neighborhoods and I hope I never go back.

One day I was startled awake by loud banging on the foyer door of my apartment building.

Peeking out my bedroom window revealed a swarm of U.S. Marshals who had conducted a raid on my neighbors apartment, hoping to net her criminal brother.
In that same apartment complex, there were two murders in the space of a week. One involved a husband who murdered his wife. Terrible.

Later on the maintenance men went into my apartment and stole two firearms, plotting to carry out a ridiculous criminal attack on the head maintenance supervisor. Thank God that never happened.

God has no pleasure in such wickedness. Some people wonder “how a loving, caring God could allow such evil to exist without stopping it immediately.”

Well, He waits to directly intervene because He wants as many people as possible to come to Him, of their own freewill, for salvation. (2 Peter 3:3-9)

But there is a millennial reign coming that will see the world being ruled by Christ for 1,000 years. During that time, there will be justice, truth, grace, forgiveness, and peace.

Evil will not dwell with God. And God will not dwell with evil. One day we will be free from evil and it’s filthy, criminal presence. The corruption that you see in the world and all of the wicked rulers pulling the strings of society will be handled. They will be handled by the Lord Himself.

God takes pleasure in righteousness…not filthy wickedness. Our part is to model His righteousness in this dark world while He has us here. King Jesus is coming back one day to turn things around.

Lord, please help me to live everyday focused on the future reign of Christ. Help me be a light in a dark world.

Keep your armor on, saints.

Nothing can stop who is coming.
