Life is a Gift and a Vapor

“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”
James 4:14

Today we have the gift of life.
We get to enjoy breathing, moving, thinking, laughing, and loving.
We get to experience praying, praising, and loving God.

Is it your last day on Earth?
Is it mine? Only God knows.

Most people don’t like to think this way. We’ve all been to funerals. We’ve all seen bodies in caskets and ashes in urns next to smiling 8×10 photos of the deceased…but we haven’t been the one in the picture, yet. Consider these statistics:

– Deaths per Day: 163,898
– Deaths per Hour: 6,829
– Deaths per Minute: 114
– Deaths per Second: 1.90

What’s the point?
Here’s the point.
Are you ready to stand in front of God today?
Are you prepared to stand in front of him in the next 5 minutes?

How about the next 5 seconds?

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Hebrews 9:27

If you knew that today was your last day on Earth, would you live any different than you usually do?

Would you:
Pray more? Sin less?
Share Christ more? Testify?
Praise God more? Speak up finally?
Seek to heal bad relationships? Forgive?

You have the gift of life today.
If you have breath in your lungs then God isn’t done with you yet.
Ask Him what He wants you to do today, then do it. What God wants you to do will be found in His Word, so prioritize studying it.

Your life is a vapor, my friend.
Live it well for Jesus Christ.

Keep your armor on.
