Beware These People

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
Colossians 2:8

Used 27 times in the Bible, the word “Beware” is a warning for us to sit up and pay attention.
In this case, Paul is warning the church at Colossae to beware of people that WILL attempt to seduce them into the useless world of idolatry, philosophy, lies, and general hedonism.

If there’s a warning to AVOID being seduced, it’s because there is a possibility that YOU CAN BE seduced.

What does Paul’s warning sound like in a 21st century application?

Beware those people who push “science” as far more important than the living God.

Beware those people who have formerly espoused anti-God agendas, but suddenly claim a life of faith without any mention of salvation in Jesus Christ.

Beware of those people who claim to know God and yet explain His supernatural works in scripture
(OR modern day) by using scientific rationale and reasoning.

Beware those people who push you to do what’s “best for humanity” rather than do what’s in obedience to God’s Word.

Beware those religious leaders who CANNOT and WILL NOT tie current world events to biblical prophesies and the return of Christ.

Beware those people who label biblical concepts, principles, prophecies, and stories as “old-fashioned” and “out-dated”.

Beware those people who attempt to blend New Age spirituality with biblical Christianity: they’ll never blend.

There will be greater societal moves to shun and silence those who speak biblical truths.
As the peer pressure campaign mounts against Christians, many will fold like cheap suits.

We saw what happened with Covid, when churches closed their doors due to government decrees and Pastors went home without a peep…at a time when people needed biblical counsel, preaching, singing, and fellowship the most.

Beware. Your faith is under attack.
You can easily fold a cheap suit…
But you can’t fold a suit of armor.
Which are you wearing?

Keep your armor on.
