“But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.”
Genesis 3:3
Somebody once said,
“Rules were made to be broken.”
A more accurate statement might be,
“Sinners tend to break rules.”
If people see a sign that says “Wet Paint: Do Not Touch”, they touch the paint to see if it’s actually wet.
When people see a sign that says “Please keep off the grass”, they walk on the grass.
“Do not enter!”
We go in.
“No food or drinks allowed!”
We eat and drink anyway.
“No cameras allowed!”
We start taking pictures.
“Do not feed the animals!”
We feed the monkeys.
“Please whisper!”
We talk out loud.
“Speed limit 55 mph!”
That means 65 mph, right?
God told Adam, “Enjoy the garden! It’s all for you! Tame the animals, name the animals, and enjoy everything the garden has to offer!
Just STAY AWAY from THAT ONE TREE in the middle of the garden.”
Of course, curiosity killed the cat.
When the serpent came calling to tempt their curiosity, Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command and went for the fruit of THAT ONE TREE.
And WE have been doing the same ever since…rejecting rules and laws.
Instead of rejecting God’s rules, we should REJECT THE LIAR who hates God and His rules.
Embrace God and His commands.
Be an obedient servant.
“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,”
1 Samuel 15:22
God’s Word was made to be followed. Your obedience will please God today.
Keep your armor on.
