A Mansion in Glory

“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
John 14:2

I’ve lived in a lot of places.
Apartments, rental houses, townhouses, single room cabin with an outhouse, and a duplex.

None of these would be featured on that old show “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous”.

But Jesus mentions this awesome promise before He leaves His disciples: there’s a mansion in heaven that’s custom made for you. Ever thought about that?

I don’t know what that looks like.
I’m not sure what God’s idea of a mansion is, but I do know that man’s idea includes a lot of opulence.
I’m not really into opulence: marble, gold, and ivory don’t appeal to me personally.

Everyone has different tastes. God knows that and that’s normal. We can all speculate about what these mansions will look like, but none of us know yet.

But I do know two things about my heavenly mansion and yours, and these are things that will be better than opulence.

#1 – You’ll have excellent neighbors.
Your neighbors will love the Lord, just like you!

No more awkward moments walking past ghoulish Halloween decorations.
No more dealing with loud parties or domestic disputes.
No more barking dogs and revving engines at 3 a.m.
Instead of neighborly drama you’ll have great talks with one another praising God and marveling at His handiwork.
That’ll be great!

#2 – Your mansion will be perfect.
Every house I’ve ever lived in has required maintenance and repairs…without exception.
Won’t it be nice to live in a place where the roof doesn’t leak, the stairs don’t creak, the plumbing doesn’t revolt, the walls don’t crumble, and the appliances never need replacing? I’m on my way there!

It’s no accident that Jesus of Nazareth was a carpenter’s son.
He’s the master builder of everything in heaven, including your mansion and mine.

We have a lot to look forward to in eternity. Don’t be discouraged if your earthly life is full of struggles and hardship.
There’s coming a day when you will dwell in a perfect “Prince of Peace Custom Home”.

Keep your armor on.
