“And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.”
Psalm 9:10
Our feelings and emotions are a wonderful gift, but they make a terrible taskmaster.
The devil operates largely in the realm of tempting our feelings and emotions…because those are tied to the condition of our flesh.
He preys on our weaknesses and undermines our strengths.
He wants us to obey our feelings, because feelings are easily steered to benefit his dark agenda.
Our feelings and emotions are largely rooted in our circumstances, and circumstances change with the weather.
People get sick, get injured, change jobs, move, have children, lose children, join a church, leave a church, get married, get divorced, lose a spouse, retire, etc., etc.
The devil loves those changes in circumstances because they allow him opportunities to inject temptation and turmoil…which often leads to sin.
Pretty soon a smooth life has turned into a tumultuous rollercoaster life and the devil is able to convince us that “God has left you in a mess!”
In the midst of a trial, many Christians look around and buy the lie that God has pulled away from them somehow. Not true!
God is an ever-present help in times of trouble to those who trust Him, and He knows where you are and what you need. (Nahum 1:7)
While our emotions will change, the Word of God is settled in heaven forever. (Psalm 119:89)
God will never change…He is the constant, we are the variable.
Are you in the midst of an emotional rollercoaster? Seek Him. Trust Him.
He WILL NOT forsake those who seek Him. Take your issues to God and ask Him to work on your heart today.
Our emotions should never rule over us, rather we should rule our emotions. (Galatians 5:16-24) Emotions are a daily gauge for us to check our spiritual condition…and we need only look at the emotions of Christ as our great example to follow.
Keep your armor on.
