The Plain Path is Best

“Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.”

Psalm 27:11

“Make it plain.”

“Don’t sugarcoat it.”

“Give it to me straight.”

“I don’t want the fluff.”

“Keep it simple.”

“Boil it down for me.”

“Give me the Cliff Notes version.”

“Let’s get down to brass tacks.”

Ever used these phrases?

Why do we use these phrases?

Because they communicate our desire to get to the heart of the matter for the sake of time.

In situations where you’re trying to formulate a response or course of action, you need facts, not filler.

I think that’s where King David was in this passage. He had enemies that wanted to ruin him and kill him. During those times his emotions ran high, anxieties increased, and doubts would begin to form in his mind.

Sound familiar?

We, too, live in emotional, anxious times. Perhaps your mind is filled with doubts and fears.

Maybe you’re battling through all the filler just to get to the facts about what’s going on in this world…have you prayed Psalm 27:11 lately?

A Psalm 27:11 prayer:

“God, I recognize that this life is spiritual warfare and I have enemies that seek to destroy me and my family.

Please show me the path that You would take across this battlefield.

Help me to avoid the traps, pitfalls, stumbling blocks, temptations, and sins the devil has prepared against me.

Lead me through my trials, dear LORD. Show yourself strong.

Show me the safest, simplest, most secure path that will ensure my victory and the defeat of my enemies.

Help me to walk on the plain path of Truth and keep me from the thorny brambles of emotional filler.

In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”

Keep your armor on and have a great weekend, friends!
