“But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”
Romans 13:14
When Paul wrote this letter to the church in Rome, he was writing to people who were living in a very hedonistic society.
Homosexuality and perversion were rampant. Society was awash in immorality and evil influences.
This presented many temptations and pitfalls for the believers in Rome.
Sound familiar?
Welcome to Rome.
Our society has abandoned the idea that homosexuality, gluttony, greed, sexual perversion, and pedophilia are wicked…and Christians have largely stopped decrying this filth, if they ever spoke up in the first place.
Picture this world as a lawn, with sprinklers of sin spraying raw sewage everywhere.
No, really.
We’ve become acclimated to it.
But God hasn’t, and the closer we are to God, the more we feel His heart of disgust towards sin.
In order to navigate this lawn of filth, many try to just time their steps through it, narrowly avoiding the main spray…but still getting enough sin exposure to satisfy their flesh. Is that you?
Put on Jesus Christ.
Wear Him like a long raincoat, covering every part of your life and family with Scriptural truth, His doctrine, and Godly influences.
In a world of sinful filth, stay clean.
God is as close as your next prayer.
Wise men still seek Him to be their covering and protection.
Keep your raincoat on.
