From Darkness to Light: Part One

“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.”
Psalm 19:7

Every human soul needs a conversion from darkness to light.
We’re born with dead spiritual batteries that must be jump started by an external power source: the Lord Jesus Christ.

Before anyone allows the Lord Jesus into their heart or life, they operate under the sinful law of selfishness…a “Do as thou wilt” philosophy.

I sure did.

My belief system before conversion was this: As long as I’m a good person and don’t hurt anyone with my decisions, I’m doing fine.

That’s the mindset of most people when they’re questioned about their own righteousness…they weigh their actions against those of killers, rapists, and thieves…and by comparison they naturally come out smelling like roses.

Humans are funny like that.
We set the bar really high for others but low for ourselves so that we can easily step over it, assuring our own first place victory every time.

I read an article that said if you decide to start a workout routine, you should have a workout partner.
Why? Because you can make sure the other person isn’t slacking on their workout, and they can keep an eye on your workout as well.

It’s called accountability,
and we all need it in life.

The law of the LORD was the standard of conduct that God delivered to Moses and the children of Israel.
I’m glad we don’t live under that law, but under His grace today.

But the law represents the standard of God, and necessary accountability for God’s people. Because we’re ALL prone to wander.

The problem is that none of us could keep the law or convert our own sinful souls. The only thing that will convert our dark souls is an infusion of Light.
The Light is Jesus Christ, who is the fulfillment of the Law.
(Matthew 5:17)

But you have to WANT the light.
You have to come to a place of recognizing that the light switch has to be flipped in your heart, your mind, and your life.
You have to ask Jesus Christ to “flip the switch” and convert your soul from the devil’s darkness to His light.

“Lord, I no longer want to stumble in darkness. I want to walk in the Light of Truth, and I believe that Jesus Christ was God in the flesh and the embodiment of absolute Truth. I invite Christ into my heart to be my Lord and Savior, and I ask forgiveness for my sinful ways. Please save my soul, fill me with your Holy Spirit, and help me to live a life that pleases you. I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.”

If you’ve been saved, then develop and nurture habits of study, prayer, and praise. That daily saturation of Truth will help your soul shine brighter and brighter for the LORD.
(Proverbs 4:18)

May your armor shine like the Son!
