“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.”
Psalm 19:7
One of the things I appreciate about the Bible is that it speaks to me at ground level. Jesus spoke to people the same plain way when He walked the planet.
Have you noticed how Jesus interacted with people in the gospels?
Most of those people who came to hear Him speak were common, ordinary people.
And in the background, standing off to the side, we read about the religious “priest class” Jews plotting to arrest and destroy Jesus.
Why?
Was it Jealousy? Envy?
I know they SAID they wanted Him destroyed because He “made Himself equal with God.” (John 5:18)…but if they were that concerned with protecting the honor of God, they should have searched the Scriptures, considered the works and teachings of Jesus, and then weighed whether or not this truly was the Messiah.
Jesus WAS their prophesied Messiah.
When Jesus was choosing disciples, did you notice that He didn’t choose any of those “super spiritual” religious leaders who were stumbling in darkness and religious pride?
He chose fisherman, tax collectors, and other young men who had not been indoctrinated and lost in the Jewish religious system.
Christ didn’t setup a church and invite people in to hear Him.
He simply went to the people and met them where they were.
He’s still doing that today.
The gospel is really simple…
But men make it really complicated.
Here’s the path from darkness into light:
Believe that Jesus Christ was God in the flesh.
Believe in His sinless life, His cruel death that you deserved for your sins, and His bodily resurrection from the grave.
Confess your sins to the Lord.
Receive Jesus Christ as Savior.
Read the Word and tell Him you love Him everyday.
Religious gurus lead you to themselves.
They want to sell you THEIR books.
Righteous men lead you to Jesus Christ.
They want you to read HIS book.
God’s Word, and His Spirit, illuminate every area of darkness in this world and give us wisdom to choose right. Don’t let men twist and complicate the simple truths of Scripture. In Christ, we can’t lose unless we choose to listen to losers who stumble in darkness.
Keep your armor on.
