“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”
Psalm 27:14
The waiting game.
Nobody likes to play the waiting game.
I don’t really mind waiting at the deli…but I don’t like waiting in traffic jams.
Waiting for the Thanksgiving turkey pop-up timer is kind of annoying.
Waiting for the doctor to come into that tiny, cold waiting room is stressful.
Then I think about some things that Jesus waited for:
He waited four days after Lazarus died to go and visit his family, and when He arrived there was much sadness…but then Jesus raised him from the dead.
He stopped and waited for Blind Bartimaeus to make his way through a crowded street after crying out to Jesus for mercy…
and then Jesus healed his blinded eyes.
Jesus was asleep in the ship in a hurricane storm, waiting for His disciples to wake Him and save them from perishing…and then He awoke and calmed the storm completely.
Jesus waited in the Garden of Gethsemane, sweating blood and knowing that His time to die was fast approaching….and then they came to arrest Him, beat Him, and crucify Him.
If Jesus could wait, we can wait.
If you trust God, then wait on Him.
No matter what you’re waiting for: healing, finances, direction, wisdom, salvation of loved ones, a job, etc.
Don’t lose heart.
That’s why today’s verse says that God “will strengthen your heart”, because He knows that we’re human and prone to discouragement.
Wait and stand on His promises:
He loves you. (John 3:16)
He heals you. (Exodus 15:26)
He hears you. (1 Peter 5:7)
He helps you. (Hebrews 13:6)
He provides for you. (Luke 12:24)
Justice is coming. (Isaiah 30:18)
Are you willing to wait for God?
Trust Him to provide WHAT you need and WHEN you need it.
God is never late.
