“But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,
To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:”
Galatians 1:15-16
When I was in my late twenties I was seeking God very seriously for direction in my life.
I didn’t know WHERE He wanted me to be or WHAT He wanted me to do for Him in life, but I knew that He had a plan for my life.
And so I prayed, fasted, and sought His face wholeheartedly.
And He heard my prayers and answered them DISTINCTLY.
The dead-end relationship I was in came to an end abruptly, having been an emotional drain on me for a long year. I thank God for that.
My dead-end temp job was ready to bring me on full time, and I was ready for something else. So, one night I prayed EARNESTLY that God would lead me in a better direction.
The NEXT DAY my Uncle called out of the blue and offered me a far better job. Praise God.
I was trying to find a church to attend and kept noticing this little white church on my way to work.
The Lord spoke to my heart very clearly and told me to “Go in and check it out.”
I did, and the Lord called me into preaching in the pulpit, the jail, and the nursing home with three very special mentors who taught me much about serving the Lord.
All of that happened in a space of three years. During that time, my sole spiritual focus was understanding spiritual warfare and learning to wield the sword of God’s Word.
Prayer, deliverance, armor, bondage, demons, angels, curses, scriptures, history…God was giving me a massive download of the spiritual battle that is raging in this world and in my own life.
I could clearly see what God was teaching me, but some people were very wary (and weirded out) when I’d excitedly share my understanding of spiritual warfare.
My point: Paul was called to preach the Gospel and given a massive download of Truth, too.
But he didn’t run to other people for affirmation of God’s calling in his life, he simply went to do what God called him to do, trusting that his testimony was enough.
God’s calling is enough for you.
YOU know what God has done in your heart and life. You know the Truth that He has shown you and the direction He is leading you, right?
Follow God’s call and walk in obedience to Him, whether others understand it fully or not.
Your calling from God is your own.
