“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”
Psalm 56:3
Most people are afraid of something.
And there may be a legitimate reason for those fears.
They may stem from an unresolved conflict, a traumatic event, a scary childhood experience, or something else.
But more important than looking to the source of the fear, we should be looking at the source of our confidence: God Himself.
Your fear only exists because it has gained sway over your confidence in God.
Your fear exists because you have bought the lie that the darkness is scary, the future is scary, your bills won’t get paid, your country won’t recover, you’ll get hurt again, etc.
If those things happen, they happen.
But it doesn’t mean we have to sign up for FEAR, it means we walk through those trials in FAITH.
Most fear is irrational if we truly believe in God’s power…
Can we say with a rational mind,
“I believe in God.
I believe He loves me.
I believe He’s with me.
I believe He’ll protect me.
I believe He’ll help me.”
If you can say that and believe it,
then where does fear belong in those statements?
Seeds of doubt grow forests of fear…and the devil has some seeds to plant in your mind today.
Fear is real. There is no doubt about it.
It’s a powerful weapon that Satan uses to shake our faith.
But fear should be immediately recognized as a lie and snuffed out with an opposing Biblical truth.
What is your fear today, right now?
Whatever it is, you should have a verse of Scripture ready in your heart and loaded on your tongue to declare against that spirit of fear.
(James 4:7)
If you don’t, you’re spiritually unarmed and easy pickings for the prowling devil.
(1 Peter 5:8)
It’s okay to experience fear.
It’s not okay to live in fear.
Wield the sword of God’s Word against your fear, and you’ll eventually conquer it if you’re committed to victory.
When Christ is our confidence, our faith in Him overpowers our fears in this world…and confidence only comes from reading, memorizing, and using Scripture everyday. (Romans 10:17)
Let’s be fearless Christians today.
