Your Heart: A Treasure Chest

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Matthew 6:21

My 77-year old friend John has a brother.
His brother is an investor who has made a LOT of money.
His wife is also the CEO of a major hospital system in Michigan.

They have no kids.
They have a huge mansion.
They have a new Corvette in the garage every year.
They often have professional athletes over to play poker.

They take trips all around the world.
They’re able to walk in and have a personal meeting with the Pope at any time.

John shakes his head when he mentions his wealthy brother.
He has not an ounce of jealousy for his brother’s wealth and affluence.
“He has everything in life except what he needs. He doesn’t have any time for Jesus.”

You see, John is a former alcoholic who got saved and became a jail minister for 40 years, while he worked at Chrysler.
He doesn’t care about money.
He knows that money is fleeting and will transfer neither to heaven or hell…but his brother’s soul WILL end up in heaven or hell one day soon.

John is richer than his brother because he has eternal life through Christ.
He treasures God and gives himself away to those who have spiritual needs.
Whether you’re rich or poor, you must accept the gospel of Christ Jesus and receive His gift of salvation in order to have eternal life.

Rich + Jesus = Eternally Rich
Poor + Jesus = Eternally Rich
Rich or Poor – Jesus = Eternally Lost

There’s nothing wrong with having wealth, unless you serve and love your wealth more than you serve and love the LORD.

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
Mark 8:36

Your heart is a treasure chest. What you deem valuable will hold a place of prominence in your heart.

What does God see in your treasure chest?
