“Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.”
Titus 1:15
Do you own any bright white clothing?
Wearing bright white is its own adventure, isn’t it? You have to be really careful not to stain white fabric.
I can work outside, cook dinner, work on the car, and sit in the grass while wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans…no problemo.
But I would NEVER consider cooking spaghetti sauce or changing my oil while wearing a white hoodie and white jeans. For starters, that outfit would look hilarious…but the bigger point is that ANY splash or spill will stain that bright white fabric and become forever noticeable.
People with a pure mind have a clean perspective.
They don’t entertain their iniquity (inner sinful desires) because that would be like wearing all white and climbing into a pig pen.
Unfortunately, we live in an age of defilement. If something is pure then it’s a target for defilement and perversion.
Whether it’s a person, an activity, a cultural norm, a truth, an institution, or a mere word…someone has a shovel full of pig slop to throw all over it.
Christians everywhere are throwing their hands up in disbelief at how crazy, evil, and perverted things are in the world. I’ve heard this line time many times: “You can’t even reason with these people, they’re crazy. They’re creeps and perverts.”
We’re dealing with defiled people who are so full of filthy thoughts, words, and actions that they don’t realize how putrid they are spiritually.
Filth is the new normal.
Society is so flooded with spiritual sewage that people have forgotten what purity is.
When it does come along it’s so foreign to the filthy that it must be defiled…because it’s too weird to deal with clean, white souls in the pig pen of society.
Look what they did to Christ.
They couldn’t handle His purity.
Solution: Do your best to stay clean and embrace purity in thought, deed, and action.
Stay in God’s Word.
The pig pen is for swine.
The last time I checked, the saints in heaven are dressed in pure white robes, not farm boots and dirty coveralls. (Revelation 6:11, 19:8)
If we’re going to wear His white robes of purity one day, let’s practice purity today.
“The Bible will keep you from sin (filth),
or sin will keep you from the Bible (bleach).”
Keep yourself pure in a dirty world.
