God hates Groves and Idols

“And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God:”
2 Chronicles 14:2

Healing a broken nation isn’t rocket science…it really isn’t.
It starts with having a desire to do what is right, based on a knowledge of good and evil.

Asa knew what was right…and he led Judah to do what was right, knowing that righteous, obedient living would lead to God’s blessings and true prosperity.

And what was his first purposeful act to restore righteousness among his people?
He took a long look around the countryside and didn’t like what he saw…

“For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:”
2 Chronicles 14:3

There was dark, sadistic, ritualistic, satanic practice happening among the people.
There was human sacrifice.
There was idol worship.
There was much, much worse.

Asa was given a position of leadership to exalt Almighty God and tear down those evil places.

Epstein Island. Bohemian Grove.
He’d have torn them down and destroyed their evil purpose.

Then he looked at the people…
“And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.”
2 Chronicles 14:4

His message wasn’t complicated.
“Get your eyes back on God and do what’s right. Quit your sin.”

And just to make sure that they didn’t have any reminders of their former wickedness…

“Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.”
2 Chronicles 14:5

The Georgia Guidestones.
Thank God they’re gone. Asa would’ve plowed them under also, along with the phallic obelisk known as the Washington monument, and the Statue of Isis better known as the Statue of Liberty.

Will God deliver America, or any nation, and allow their idolatry and evil to persist?
No. Eventually every lie must be revealed, every liar silenced, and every idol exposed and destroyed. That’s why Christ must return again, because man will never be able to rid the world of evil and idols.

A clean nation is a good thing.
I’m not bound to statue idols or historical monuments…even though many aren’t inherently evil.
I’m bound to my Savior who loves me and gave Himself for me.

A righteous nation will exalt only Him…or it will end up in the ash heap of history.

I don’t want to see destruction, I want to see God’s blessings flow. How do we get there?

Follow God’s Word!

“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs 14:34
