Do you trust your instincts?

Do you trust your instincts?

I trust my instincts. I think being able to trust your instincts is relative to how teachable someone is from their youth.

Babies and toddlers have a huge learning environment. We often forget that they are developing instincts as they learn…there is a “muscle memory” and reflex being developed in the brain that will lead them to future action or inaction.

Little Kid Dangers:

The stove is hot. The table has sharp corners. The dog has teeth. The stairs hurt when falling down them. Falling on pavement hurts. Cut and chew grapes and hotdogs or you might choke.

Little Kid Pleasures:

The stove makes food. The table holds food. The dog has soft fur. The stairs are fun to climb. Riding on pavement is faster than grass. Grapes and hotdogs are tasty.

The quicker we learn from the success/mistakes of ourselves and others, the faster our instincts can process and provide a safe decision.

So when my “gut instinct” says:

“Go here. Don’t go there. Say this. Don’t say that. Buy this. Don’t buy that. Walk away. Run away…”

That’s the culmination of thousands of decisions, experiences, and memories which have taught me the best way forward.

Coupled with being a Christian, I have the Holy Spirit and Word of God to give me wisdom and guidance to make decisions that will best represent and glorify Christ.

I trust my instincts. I trust the Lord.

And when I choose wrong, then I do my best to learn from that and try to make better choices moving forward.
