“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
Matthew 5:6
When I was 15, Dad and I installed a tile floor at a house in remote northern Michigan.
We worked late into the evening, and we were both starving…I think my stomach was trying to eat my liver…or vice versa.
The job wasn’t even done yet, but we HAD TO get something to eat.
The time was 8:50p.m.
The nearest store closed at 9:00p.m., and we were soon racing the dark and winding roads along Lake Michigan to get there. Our eyes scanned the darkness for the shine of deer eyes lurking near the road.
We were tired, dirty, hungry, and ornery.
By the time we made it to Cross Village and pulled into the gas station, we had been bickering for 5 miles.
They were closing up when we pulled in, but graciously let us get what we needed. We were soon loading our arms with enough food to last the night.
When we drove away there was a complete change in the atmosphere.
Our moods were better.
Hot Pockets and Lipton iced teas had never tasted so good.
We now had energy on our side.
We didn’t have to race back to the job.
We could focus on what mattered.
Many people are hungering and thirsting for righteousness today.
Jesus Christ satisfies a hungry soul.
The present spiritual/societal war between good and evil has left many of us tired, dirty, hungry, and ornery.
The bickering has started.
The whining is prevalent.
Claws are out. We’re “hangry”.
Some friendly advice: Keep your eyes focused on the finish line, not just the winding road of life. Be gracious along the way, even with those you may not agree with 100%…the most important thing is to do YOUR part to the best of YOUR ability for the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
Let’s finish strong!
Righteousness is worth it.
And if you and I crave His righteousness, Jesus promised we’d be fed…and our “hangry” moments will improve drastically.

I like this post Eric, thank you for the encouragement!
I think it may be the first post I have read on being hungry 😁

Thanks Alan! Yes, too often my stomach dictates my mood, and something told me I’m not alone.😅
