Plant, Water, Pray.

“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.”
1 Corinthians 3:6

Gardens are like Christianity.
Seeds are planted.
The ground is watered.
The plants sprout and bear their fruits in due time.

Every Christian has a role to play in the Lord’s garden, and sometimes it’s a dual role.

The Gospel is the seed that we’re supposed to be planting.
We plant that seed into individuals in the world who are lost and broken.

When that Gospel is received, it goes into the heart of the believer and needs to be watered and nourished.
The new believer is a babe in Christ and needs to grow into a mature believer who bears seeds of his own.

Watering the young plant is important.
The new believer needs the best water in the world in order to grow tall and strong:

“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
John 4:14

“That he might sanctify and cleanse it (the church) with the washing of water by the word,”
Ephesians 5:26

Some people preach the gospel and a soul gets saved.
Other people come alongside to encourage and disciple that young Christian.
But God is the one who will lead that believer to plant and water seeds of his own one day, thus completing the cycle of eternal life.

Got Gospel seeds? Plant them today.
Got the Word? Water a Christian.
Let God use you in His garden.
Be a tool in His hand.

Plant, Water, Pray, Repeat.

  1. This post reminds me that God’s Word has the best illustrations about the life of faith; Gospel seed sowing is deliberately kept simple by God that we learn and follow His Son’s words in the gospel account. May we each sow, water, pray and wait in faith regularly. Thank you for your precious encouragement brother, God bless you today 🙏
