There are many different temptations in the devils’ playbook. One of those nasty little fiery darts is the temptation to envy.
What is envy? It’s an inner discontentment that comes from wanting what other people have…and it often leads to resentment toward those people because, simply put, they have it and you don’t.
Rachel had that kind of an envy toward her sister Leah. Leah had birthed many sons for Jacob, but Rachel had a barren womb. She became so distraught that she threatened her husband Jacob…”You’d better give me kids or I’m going to die!”
Daily Armor Translation: “Jacob, it’s your fault that I’m not happy. How dare you give Leah kids and leave me barren! If you don’t supply my needs then I’m checking out for good, pal!”
When envy rears its ugly head in a person, they often manifest some sort of tantrum. It may simply be a quiet, spiteful utterance, or it could be a full-blown combustion bomb…I’ve seen and experienced both. No matter what is said verbally, the envious person expresses this: “I don’t trust God to supply my needs.”
My friends, how many times does God tell us to WAIT on Him? Whatever you need, wait on God. Whatever you desire, ask God and then wait on Him. Rachel could have saved her tantrum and simply waited in faith for God to show up. In Genesis 30:22, God showed up in a big way:

God knows what you want, need, and desire…just keep your eyes on Him and off of everyone else’s blessings. Waiting still works.

Yes, how much we need to daily wait on God’s provision and guidance before that of the world. God bless you today brother Eric 🙏
p.s. I would advise a change of word for b****** in your second line. I know in the US it means mucus, but elsewhere it is a rude term for something else.

Thanks brother and thanks for the advisement. Actually, in the U.S. the word “booger” means nose mucus, but the word “bugger” can refer to any nuisance or annoyance.
Funny how words change meaning in different areas.😆
Have a blessed day brother!

Thank you for your grace in this Eric 😉
To be honest, I would rather have emailed you than put it in comments. Feel free to delete my comments Eric,
May our Father God continue to guide and bless you today brother 🙏

I feel convicted, like you are speaking directly to me today. I am in a season of waiting, and I often grumble about it. But, I know waiting produces endurance and perseverance. It’s in the waiting that we grow. Thank you for this timely reminder, Eric.

I was writing to myself, but apparently was reading your mail last night also.😆
I am in a season of temptations to envy, am working on a writing project and it’s forcing me to wait patiently through the process. There has been a little envy tempting me to rush it along (and probably get it wrong), but I want to wait and do things right.
Have a great day Heather, may God give you great grace to wait on His timing.

Thank you, Eric, for an always welcome reminder to remain patient for the Lord to answer us. The childbearing abilities of Rachel and of Leah was a great example of envy. 🙂
