The Destination

When Jesus speaks of blessing, He describes more than temporary happiness. He speaks of deep joy rooted in destination. The pure in heart, He says, will see God.

Imagine traveling to reunite with a long-lost loved one. Every mile matters. You do not wander aimlessly or make unnecessary stops. Distractions lose their pull because someone you love waits at the end of the journey. Your intention is singular — arrive, reunite, embrace.

Purity of heart works the same way.

A pure heart is not flawless perfection but focused devotion. It is a life moving steadily toward God without divided loyalties. The believer lives with the awareness that one day we will stand face to face with Christ. That coming reunion reshapes how we live now. Temptations become detours. Sin becomes a delay. Distractions lose value when they threaten closeness with Him.

This is where the breastplate of righteousness becomes essential. We do not keep our hearts pure through personal strength alone. Christ’s righteousness guards us like armor over the heart. Because we are clothed in His righteousness, we are both protected from condemnation and empowered to pursue holy living. His righteousness secures our standing before God and strengthens our daily walk toward Him.

And remarkably, God desires this reunion too. He is not distant or indifferent. He waits to receive His children.

So ask yourself: is your heart fixed on the destination, or scattered by distractions along the way?
