Three “My’s” of Spiritual Warfare

“Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:”
Psalm 144:1

There are three things in this verse that owe their allegiance to the Lord:

#1 – My strength.
My strength is in my blessed Lord.
It’s not found in my muscles, intellect, finances, wit, possessions, family, or talents.

It’s God who graciously gives me the heartbeats and coordination to move this weak flesh body through life.
When I take my focus off of God’s sustaining strength and begin to rely on myself instead, I falter and become discouraged.

#2 – My hands.
My hands were made for war.
Not violence…WAR.
Every person on this planet is in the midst of a spiritual battle, but very, very few are engaged in spiritual warfare. Few are allowing God to teach their hands how to wage spiritual war.

What I do with my hands will either benefit the kingdom of God, or the kingdom of darkness.
What I do with my hands will either please God or not.

God didn’t make my hands just to take care of myself. He made them to serve others and contribute specific effort to the spiritual battle against Satan.
Use your hands. Serve God.

#3 – My fingers.
My fingers are fine-tuned extensions of my hands.
The things I can do with my hands, I can often do BETTER with my fingers.

I can hold a sword between my palms, but I’ll never be able to swing it effectively without engaging my fingers.
I can push a door open with my flat palm, but I can only grip a doorknob with my fingers.

I must use my fingers in order to fight.
This means that whatever I do for the LORD should be fine tuned to the best it can be.
I’m in a spiritual fight and will be for the rest of my life.

My prayer life should be excellent.
My church service should be excellent.
My testimony should be pure.
My faith in God should be growing.

You’re going to be in a spiritual battle
for the rest of your life.

Engage your strength, your hands, and your fingers and commit their service to the Lord God Almighty.
