“These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.”
2 Samuel 23:8
Many of us have an inner circle of people who know us well.
Those are the people who understand your battles, share in your victories, and walk with you through defeats…and you do the same for them.
People that close to you can be considered your “crew”.
King David had a crew of mighty men around him who were absolute warriors through and through…reading their physical exploits has always left me awestruck.
But these men served a far greater purpose to David than just being his elite fighting force.
They were his helpers, they were his encouragers, they were his protectors, they were his eyes and ears, they were his brothers-in-arms.
You and I would do well to consider who we keep in our inner circle…
Do we surround ourselves with Godly “mighty men”?
Or are they worldly “flighty men”?
On the flip side, does somebody else consider YOU to be one of THEIR “mighty men”?
Are you someone that other people would want by their side during a trial?
As we look at David’s mighty men this week, consider yourself and your “crew” in 2024.
Much good can be accomplished for the LORD when the right people join together for His cause…but much time can be wasted with spiritually weak people who consistently have selfish ambitions.
Are you joined with “mighty men”?
Can you name them confidently?

Happy New Year brother Eric, may our Father God bless and guide you in 2024!
This is a good post to ponder indeed; I do have a small but mightily reliable crew who I love in the Lord. My crew are an international band of brothers and sisters bonded by His Spirit, and I thank Him for them everyday.

Happy New Year, brother Alan!
I am glad that you have such a crew, and I’m glad you’re thankful for them! The Lord just reminded me, through your comment, to be grateful for such people in my life.👍🏻
And through this blog, I’m meeting faithful warriors like you, Alan!
Onward and upward, my friend!

This is a great post to start the new year, Eric!
Yes, I have a small support crew who share my faith and help me stay accountable—both to God and others.
Alan (who commented above) is one of them. I call him my Brother in Christ from the Kingdom of Fife, as he is from Scotland. 🏴
My mighty men also include a woman (or two). My mother passed away in 2011, so these are godly surrogates.
Happy New Year, brother, and God Bless!
