We Need King Jesus

“And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.”
1 Samuel 8:5-6

A showdown is happening:
Good versus evil…worldwide.
Liberty versus tyranny…worldwide.
Truth versus lies…worldwide.

Change is going to happen…
In which direction?
God only knows.

The prophet Samuel, a faithful man of God, had become old and the elders of Israel came to Him looking for change.
They wanted the fresh face of a king who could lead them and fight wars for them.

They wanted to “be like the other nations” who had a central political figurehead.
They were asking for Big Government…because that was easier to stomach than the accountability of living with GOD as their Ruler.
Big Government doesn’t care if you sin, after all.
But God does.

We are ripe for the same problem.
God is exposing political corruption for the purpose of turning us back to Him…but we’re in a season where people, full of emotion, will desire a fresh human face without giving consideration to what GOD desires.

Jesus Christ is supposed to be the fresh face.
Righteousness is supposed to be the fresh way.
Repentance is what should bring a fresh start.

Will that happen?
Will God be glorified?
Or will this current showdown only lead people to shout, “Down with the swamp! Make us a new King!”

No King but King Jesus…so pray that political leaders in your nation come to recognize Him as their Lord and Savior.
