The Giants in our Paths

“And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?”
Numbers 14:3

The Israelites were delivered out of demonic bondage in Egypt.
God had delivered them from their enemies. (Exodus 14)
He brought them through the wilderness and supernaturally sustained them with food. (Exodus 16)
He supernaturally provided them with water to drink. (Exodus 17)

And when we get to Numbers 14, we find the Israelites mourning, weeping, and wailing because they heard that the promised land is full of fierce warriors and giants.

And they actually say, “Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?”

No.
Let me tell you something.
You’re at a certain point in your life right now that may or may not have serious trials.

I can assure you that there WILL BE giants (trials) in your path at some point, because that’s what God uses to mature us.

Are you going to weep and wail and run back to your safe space when they show up?
Or are you going to take a deep breath and plow on toward Jesus Christ?

The Israelites heard about giants, walled cities, and armies from the 12 spies that Moses sent into the land.
Then they freaked out about it.

What will it take for you to “freak out” and want to run back to your safe space?

“Heavenly Father, you’ve called me to put my hand on the plow and move forward. Jesus said that if I look back, I’m not fit for the kingdom of God. (Luke 9:62)
Help me to not quit.
Help me to not give up.
Help me to not lose heart.
Help me to not back down.
In my flesh dwells no good thing,
but in you I can do all things through Christ who sustains and gives me strength.

(Romans 7:18, Philippians 4:13)

Help me to stand against any giants with the courage of Joshua and King David…because if there is a giant in my path you’ve allowed it to be there, and you’ll provide grace and power to handle it.

I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the master giant slayer. Amen.”
