His Promises: Part Seven

When God revealed the nature of spiritual warfare to me, this verse became a reality in my life. I started asking myself some direct questions:

Are there weapons formed against me today?

What kind of weapons are they?

Who has formed them? For what purpose?

Am I being targeted?

There have been three supernatural events that have happened to me in life. One happened as a teenager, long before I knew anything about “spiritual warfare“. The other two happened after I became a student of all things spiritual warfare. I don’t care to relive them ever again, but I know that God allowed them for a reason…even though they were quite scary.

So I KNOW that there is a spiritual battle between good and evil happening on this planet…and the battle is for the souls of men. Anything that is used to destroy souls can be considered a weapon of the devil. Lust, lies, greed, corruption, envy, and all physical tools of destruction can (and will) be formed against you, me, and everyone.

But will those weapons prosper? Will they accomplish total destruction in the life of a child of God?

Isaiah 54:17 says “no”! Though Satan can assail and assault us in a million terrible ways, even to the point of our physical death, we have a heritage of eternal life and righteousness that will carry us straight into glory! Hallelujah!

God promises us that we are eternally victorious in the face of any frightening, targeted, demonic onslaught. Our heritage as Christians is presently centered in heaven, square in the heart of Almighty God, and seated with Christ himself.

In other words, if the devil dropped a nuclear weapon on me today, he would only blow me straight into the presence of Jesus Christ, where I’ve been all along anyway. Rejoice in God’s promise of eternal victory today, child of God!

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,” Ephesians 2:4-6

  1. Another powerful promise! I don’t know why I ever feel afraid of the enemy, when I know my God is more powerful. I remember the first time that I discovered that God and Satan are not equals. (Thanks, C.S. Lewis) They are portrayed as GOOD vs. EVIL as if they are equal opponents. But in actuality, Satan is just a fallen angel. Revelation 20 reveals that the arch angel Michael will throw Satan into the abyss, not God. Part of the enemy’s deception is trying to convince us that he is all powerful.

    1. You are so right! This is not an evenly matched spiritual battle…God is far superior in wit, intellect, wisdom, power, and authority.
Satan is on a leash and God only allows him to act (short term) in accordance with God’s ultimate will.

I always go back to Job, when God allowed Satan to destroy Jobs life. The ultimate end of that tragic trial was Jobs restoration and Gods glorification…and then I think how much I don’t want to experience that!

But if we do have moments of “Job”, then we can rest assured that all things will work together for our ultimate good. (Romans 8:28)

Many people are duped thinking that Satan know our thoughts, when in reality he only watches patterns and habits of life. He’s a stalker and a smooth talker, but only God knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts.
Thanks for encouraging me today! You’ve got my mind thinking about all the blessings of being on Gods side!

  2. I like your Godly approach to the work of the devil. Over the years when Satan kicks me I rejoice in my heart because that tells me that I am doing something right for God. I have learned to be thankful for trials and that they drive me closer to praising God; that really does annoy the enemy and he goes back to the drawing board for his next idea…and around we go again, praising God again! God bless you richly today brother 🙏

    1. I have to agree…I think that one of the most aggravating things for the devil is dangling juicy temptations in front of us and we ignore them…and choose obedience to God instead.

My ministry partner used to joke and say, “When the devil wakes up in the morning I want that lying snake to see my framed face on the wall smiling down at him in victory.”😆
Have a blessed day brother Alan!!
