My annual Bible reading always starts with Genesis. It’s nice to be reminded of the beginning of human history as we start another year on this old rock.
No matter how many times I read Genesis, I always get something fresh from it. One of the things that stood out to me this year is how God showed special grace to Noah and his family.
You think the world is messed up today? In Noah’s day it was so wicked that God decided to flush the whole thing down the tubes…
“The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.” Genesis 6:5
But Noah was the exception. God saw in Noah a human that was worth saving, because he and his family had not compromised themselves spiritually, morally, and even physically.
There are a lot of holidays that honor some decent people, but in my opinion all of humanity would be well-served with a day that honors Noah for staying righteous in a wicked society…especially since every human is a descendant of Noah and his family.
How about “Thank God for Noah Day”?
May we also be people that God sees as righteous, Christlike examples in a weird and wicked world. I thank God that as Christians we have found His amazing grace and are robed in His righteousness.

Good morning Eric 😊 I share your thoughts and enthusiasm for Genesis – it doesn’t matter how often I read it there is always a new blessing to find. As for Noah, your verse is spot on, what an encouragement Noah is to us who follow Christ our Lord. I was reminded of the Statler Brothers song on Genesis 6:8. God bless you today brother 🙏
