Complete in Christ

Jigsaw puzzles are a challenge many people enjoy. It takes time, patience, and focus to fit hundreds or even thousands of pieces together into one final picture. But imagine reaching the end—with every piece carefully placed—only to discover one piece missing. You’d search furiously for it, desiring to hear that final satisfying “click” as it snaps into place. Without it, no matter how beautiful the rest may be, the puzzle remains incomplete.

Our lives are much like that puzzle. Each decision, experience, and relationship is a piece that forms who we are. Those without Christ work to assemble their lives using worldly pieces of success—career, wealth, fitness, family, and reputation. From the outside, their picture may look perfect. Yet God sees something missing: Himself. Without Christ at the center, even the most impressive life is incomplete.

To be complete in Christ doesn’t mean that every piece of life falls perfectly into place. It means our starting point—the cornerstone piece—is faith in Him. Once that first piece is set, every other part of life finds its purpose and connection.

Even if we die with unfinished plans, unmet goals, or missing earthly pieces, God sees our picture as complete. In Christ, you’re already complete, and the pieces you add to your life should only serve to bring Him honor and glory.

  1. Thank you for sharing this encouraging message today Eric. As I pondered it, I found myself imagining an ornate antique mantle clock which looks beautiful, but does not work or keep good time. It requires something from the Master Craftsman, maybe a missing piece or a deep clean, then it will work. I think we are a bit like that clock brother, we need God’s Word and Spirit every day to keep us on time. God bless you today brother 🙏

    1. That’s a great picture, brother Alan…very fitting for the verse at hand! I was given a small mantle clock years ago that was made in Germany…I wanted to love it and use on my desk at work, but it just wouldn’t work. The movement was broken somehow. That went into the garbage. On to things that actually work COMPLETELY!👍🏻👍🏻

      Have a blessed day brother!

  2. I love jigsaw puzzles! Great analogy! It is very frustrating when there is one missing piece at the end. It’s comforting to know that we are complete in Christ, even if all of our plans don’t work out. God’s plan will prevail.
