Our God of Truth

Psalm 31 is packed with raw emotion—enemies plotting, traps being set, fear closing in, and the weight of suffering pressing hard against David’s heart. It’s a lament…a cry from a man who has tasted danger, betrayal, and sorrow firsthand. David knew what it felt like to be hunted, slandered, misunderstood, and abandoned.

Yet right in the middle of all that pain, he turns to God and describes Him this way: “O Lord God of truth.”

When people wound you, deceive you, or turn against you, it’s easy to become jaded. Betrayal has a way of twisting trust, hardening the heart, and making us suspicious of everyone. We start building walls. We avoid vulnerability. We learn to expect disappointment.

But David didn’t run to bitterness—he ran to God.

He didn’t hide in resentment—he hid in truth.

He didn’t collapse into despair—he committed his spirit into God’s hands, trusting that the One who redeemed him would never lie, never fail, and never abandon him. Even when surrounded by enemies, David anchored his soul in the character of God. If God is the God of truth, then He is the One you can trust when everyone else has failed you.

The world is full of false hopes, empty promises, and idols that cannot help when life breaks apart. But God remains faithful. He does not lie. He will not deceive you. His promises are as steady in the valley as they are on the mountaintop.

When trials overwhelm, do what David did:
run to the God of truth
.
God is who carries you, defends you, and leads you safely through the darkest valleys back into the light.
