Finding the Good

Life has a way of wearing us down. Bad news fills our screens, routines become dull, and discouragement settles over us like a heavy blanket. But even in a world that feels dark and chaotic, Scripture reminds us that “the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.” His goodness is still shining through—sometimes quietly, sometimes boldly—if we’ll take the time to notice it.

You can see it in the bright laughter of a baby, the kind that instantly lifts your heart. You can spot it in a scampering squirrel racing up a tree with playful determination. His beauty is displayed in a single snowflake, uniquely designed and silently drifting to the ground. It’s felt in a warm spring rain that refreshes the air and waters the earth.

God’s goodness is in a gentle breeze brushing across your face, in a playful puppy bouncing with excitement, and in the steady roar of a waterfall reminding us of His strength. It’s painted across a breathtaking sunrise that announces a brand-new day. It’s heard in the melody of a thousand songbirds filling the morning with music. It shows up in a kind word when you need it most and in a helping hand that arrives right on time.

Don’t let discouragement win. Though the devil prowls and this world often weighs us down, he cannot steal the simple, daily blessings God pours into your life. Beauty, joy, and goodness still surround you—gifts the enemy can never take away.

Lift your eyes today. Find the good. Find God.
He’s everywhere, He can’t be defeated, and He’s not done blessing you.

  2. Wow, you have no idea how much I needed to hear this today! Thank you for this reminder. I need to anticipate God’s goodness instead of expecting troubles right around the corner. God is good all the time! There is always something to be thankful for.

  3. thank you for your encouragement. when I read your devotional. I immediately thought of the words to hymn:

O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior,And life more abundant and free.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,Look full in His wonderful face,And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,  In the light of His glory and grace.
