How Is God So Patient?

“To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;”
Daniel 9:9

I don’t know how God does it.
I don’t know how he looks at the mess of this world and the piles of sin, violence, corruption, rebellion, and death.

How does He look at it all and not order up a meteor strike?

Everyday the news is filled with murders and violence.
There are so many stories of grotesque, demonic violence in this nation…and throughout the world.

If I were God, I’d have put a stop to the whole mess a long time ago.
It may have looked like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah on a worldwide scale if I were in charge.

Why? Because I’m nuts?
No. I’m not nuts, I’m just an impatient human who can hardly tolerate my own foolishness, let alone everyone else’s.

And in my times of impatience, I see just how patient God really is.
How many times do I rebel against God?
How many times do I break His heart?
How often do I commit sins against Him?

I’m thankful that God didn’t give me what I had coming: judgment and destruction.
Instead, He gave me what I didn’t deserve: mercy and forgiveness.

He’s been so good to us despite our rebellion against Him.
It’s a good day to thank Him for being so patient, merciful, and forgiving toward us.

  1. This is an excellent reminder to us that we need to be more loving and patient; after all if we are saved by His Grace we need to share some of that grace with others.

    Thank you Eric😁

God bless you richly today brother 🙏

  2. So true! It reminds me of the time that the “Sons of Thunder” wanted to call fire from Heaven down upon the Samaritans to destroy them. (Luke 9:54) Thank God that He doesn’t destroy us in our sin! Let us also have love, grace and mercy for others just as God is patient with us.
