Looking Unto Jesus

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:2

There are so many strong leaders in Scripture who I admire.

Moses. He led such a great and grumbling people out of bondage and into freedom, dying before ever entering the promised land.

Joshua. He took the mantle of Moses and bravely led the Israelites in many epic battles for the promised land.

Samuel. He was a prophet who walked in obedience to God, faithfully instructing all people to wholly follow God.

Daniel. A man SO faithful, that even as a young man in captivity his enemies saw his excellent spirit and put him into positions of leadership.

Jeremiah. He sorrowfully watched his people suffer destruction and ruin…all the while being hated by those in his own household.

Paul. A well-educated genius who was radically transformed by an encounter with Christ, and he faithfully followed the Lord’s calling for the rest of his days.

Peter. A pillar in the early church whose abrasive character became well-refined by the Holy Spirit, and his writings reveal marked maturity and sanctification.

I admire these men, and many others, but I don’t “look unto them” for my direction.

I look unto Jesus.
What would Jesus do?
How did Jesus respond?
Would Jesus approve?

Our eyes must remain on Jesus,
even if our road to the finish line is lined with AMAZING heroes of the faith, who have given it all in God’s service.

All gave some for all.
Some gave all for some.

Only ONE gave ALL for ALL.

Jesus. Look unto HIM today.
