No Lone Wolves

“But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.”
Psalm 73:28

When I was 12, I read a book that has remained with me to this day.
The book is called “Marine Sniper” and is the story of Carlos Hathcock, a sniper during the Vietnam War.

What intrigued me was the idea of this Marine soldier in enemy territory, stalking, shooting, and surviving while mostly ALONE.

Carlos crawled through jungles, was bitten by fire ants while forced to lie still, and patiently waited for hours and days for one shot at the enemy. Hathcock was so skilled as a sniper that he racked up 93 confirmed kills and had a bounty placed on his head by the enemy.

I’m of the opinion that there are no snipers in spiritual warfare. There are no “lone wolves” who single-handedly conquer the enemy.

I’ve experienced many victories in my spiritual walk, and I could easily chalk them up to personal strength, personal commitment, my resolve, perseverance, experiences…
but that’s baloney.

Good men and women have poured wisdom into me, knowingly or unknowingly.
Wise teachers have studied long hours to prepare lessons to instruct me.
Pastors have prayed and prepared sermons delivered from Gods heart to mine.
Prayer warriors have lifted me up.

It’s been God’s grace that has led me safely through the jungles of life, not alone, but with brothers and sisters in Christ all around me.
Not one of us more important than another, but each of us drawing near to God first and putting our trust in Him…

…so that when He has delivered us through life’s biting snakes and tormenting ants, we can finish our mission and declare all His works together one day.
What a day that will be!

I’m thankful for you who fight
and draw close to the LORD.

I’m thankful to God.
He is Always Faithful.
Semper Fi, saints.

  1. You make a valid point Eric; there are no loners in God’s family/army. There are times when we thought we were struggling alone but we find out that someone was praying for us in that moment. God is Good indeed!
May He continue to guide and bless you today brother 🙏

    1. Thanks brother Alan, I have found the same thing to be true. And there have even been times where the Lord told me/clued me in that somebody was praying for me during times of distress.

Isn’t He good? And it’s good to be in the family of God! Have a great day brother!
