“Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.”
Psalm 33:8-9
Imagine if you could get ALL of the inhabitants of the world to fear God and stand in awe of Him.
That seems like a tall order.
But in all honesty, that’s exactly what should happen. God should be recognized as being awesome.
The word “awesome” has been misused for so long that it has lost it’s true meaning.
“This hot cocoa is awesome!”
“His leather jacket is awesome!”
“Those pajamas are awesome!”
Not exactly.
The hot cocoa is delicious.
The jacket looks sharp.
The pajamas are comfy.
But only God is awesome.
Only God.
He alone should provoke awe in us.
When our finite brains try to understand how He made everything and keeps it all running…we should be filled with admiration of His great power and wisdom.
How does He do it all?
Ever wonder why the Earth always spins at the same speed all of the time, everyday, all year, for years?
Because He’s awesome.
How is every human different?
Because He’s awesome.
How does DNA repair itself?
Because He’s awesome.
How could God be born of a virgin?
He’s awesome.
How does prophecy come true?
God = Awesome.
Why do sunrises and sunsets both contain such awesome beauty?
Because God wants us to begin and end each day recognizing that He’s awesome.
Stand in awe of God.
Stay in awe of His great power today.

I love this post Eric. There nothing annoys me quite like the misuse of words, especially in reference to our Father God. Another word sadly misused in this world is “divine” when we know that only One is Divine!
God bless you today brother 🙏

Yes, “divine” is another one! There are so many times I’ve seen women’s fashion, chocolate sauce, desserts, and even vacation destinations referred to as “divine”.😩
Have a blessed day with our awesome God, my friend!

Of course, the song that became an earworm for me after having read your blog is “Our God is an Awesome God” by Michael W Smith. 🙂
