Strong Christian Men

“That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.”
Titus 2:2

We need strong Christian men.
I’m thankful for those older men in my life who have “stuck to the stuff” in their walk with the Lord.

In a world that chases youth and tries to reverse the natural aging process, it’s refreshing to know men who embrace life as it comes, and then work to age with grace and maturity.

The apostle Paul writes to Titus and says that strong, faithful Christian men will be the byproduct of sound preaching and doctrine.
He lists several qualities that “aged” (middle-aged or older) Christian men should have:

Sobriety. This means having a proper perspective on life that’s untainted by booze, drugs, or a cloud of sin to mask us from reality.

Grave. To be grave is to be serious-minded, able to handle and respond to the heavy moments involving life and death.

Temperate. Temperate men keep themselves in check and don’t overindulge in physical or emotional things. They understand moderation and excess.

Sound in faith. Strong Christian men should know WHAT they believe and WHY they believe it. They should be able to boldly defend their faith with Scripture and lead a lost soul to Christ using the Bible.
(Men, if we can’t do that, we’re like lifeguards that can’t swim.)

Charitable. God so loved the world that He gave us Jesus Christ. That should resonate with strong Christian men to the degree that they’re willing to love everyone just like God loved THEM. Pay love forward.

Patience. The men I admire most don’t “fly off the handle”…they think on stressful things with quiet contemplation and then respond with Godly wisdom.
A testimony of patience is an impressive sight.
Getting frustrated is easy and wrong, but staying calm is hard and right.

We need strong Christian men.
The more I look at the world, the more I look at myself to BE the strong Christian man for God’s glory and those around me.

“God, please grant your Christian men the discipline, strength, and resolve to live right for your honor and glory.
Help us also to be a good example to younger believers around us.”

Keep your armor on, men.

  1. Excellent post and a call to Christian men to serve their Lord and Saviour in these last days. I remember the brothers who nurtured me in my young faith, I thank God for them and ask Him to guide me to do the same for young men I know.

God bless you today brother 🙏
