“On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.”
John 12:12-13
What does the world do with this story?
They shrug it off.
“Jesus was just a man.”
“People are celebrated every day.”
“So, they waved some palm branches for Jesus, what’s the big deal?”
They called him KING.
The King of ISRAEL.
The one who comes in the name of the LORD.
That’s a BIG deal.
In the seventh grade we were given a writing assignment: What historical person would you like to meet and why?
The answers were typical of seventh graders: sports players, old actors, world leaders, past presidents, military generals, etc.
I don’t remember who I picked, but it wasn’t Jesus Christ.
I can now say as an adult that He is the one I should have picked…not Babe Ruth, Abe Lincoln, or George Patton.
Who else walked on water, healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the dead, and controlled the weather?
Who else was born of a virgin in a barn, then years later was heralded as the King of Israel in a palm leaf procession?
Even if some don’t believe that Christ Jesus is Lord, His intriguing life story should AT LEAST stir up curiosity and examination into His claims.
Everything about Him is unique.
Even secular historians and writers admit that Jesus Christ existed and He caused quite a stir.
I’ll say! He stirred me all the way to Calvary and saved my soul.
I believe He was heralded as the King of Israel because HE IS the King of Israel.
He never asked for a King’s procession of palm leaves and fanfare. The people did that organically because they believed that He was the prophesied messiah and King.
The King had come.
But not to conquer…yet.

Hallelujah to our Saviour and King!🙌🙏
