When life gives a Christian a pile of lemons, God has plans to make lemonade at some point. That’s a promise!
God has a valuable silver lining attached to every one of your trials, my friend. It may seem hard to understand while you’re immersed in poverty, sickness, loss, or tragedy…but God desires that we always have the Romans 8:28 perspective, regardless of what we’re experiencing.
I’ve had to learn that all things in my life only work for good when I surrender them to God: the good, the bad, and the ugly. In the midst of life’s roller coaster, I must believe that God is in action in seen and unseen ways and working to be glorified in my life.
How can my losses in life ever possibly work out for good? Well, loss teaches us to lean on God, as in the case of losing a job. Loss teaches us to count our blessings and thank God for them. Loss teaches us empathy and sympathy for those who have also suffered loss. Loss can work for good in God’s master plan.
How can my chronic sickness ever result in good things? Maybe someone is watching your Christian conduct as you battle an illness. Do they see your faith in action? Wouldn’t it be good for the world to hear and see Jesus Christ in the lives of sick Christians?
Unexpectedly late for work? Traffic jam? Maybe God is protecting you or another Christian from an accident, or worse. Praise Him!
Failed promotion? Dead end job? Maybe God has you in a holding pattern right where He wants you…praise Him and wait on Him.
I could go on. Probably preaching to the choir. Can I encourage you to stay true to your calling and simply serve God faithfully? Any results of your faithfulness are on Him, and He will surely move you like a chess piece on His grand chessboard.
Trust Him, He is working a good plan for His servants every single day!

I like the whole post, brother, but love your chess analogy. A pastor friend once told me, “Satan is a chess player.” He meant our enemy is strategic in his attacks. I agreed, but later thought, “God is a chess player too, and He never loses.”

That’s an excellent way of putting it, brother David! Thanks for that awesome fact this morning, it paints a great picture in my mind!
I imagine the devil slyly moving his pawns and pieces across the board, sure that he finally has the Lord pinned down in a checkmate.
Then the Lord yawns and easily makes a devastating countermove which totally derails the plans of the devil…sort of like when Joseph became ruler over Egypt and saved his people after the devil had left him for dead in a well.
Have a blessed day, brother!

This post is just the right medicine for a Monday morning Eric – thank you brother 😁 We must proclaim Romans 8:28 often, even when it hurts – that’s the best time to praise Him. God bless you today brother 🙏

Thanks Nancy! I have never been called Todd, only Eric!😆
What’s amazing is that my Mom and I were just talking to her neighbor and I was petting her little dog named Tucker, who I’ve known for awhile.
Then the neighbor told us that Tucker ran away from an abusive farm life so she changed his name.
His previous name was Todd!😯
I’ve never heard of a dog named Todd!
Anyway, have a blessed Thanksgiving and thanks for your encouraging words!
