His Promises: Part Ten

I live in the metro Detroit area and have heard one particular commercial on TV and radio for many years. Do you have a recurring local commercial stuck in your head? What does it promise to provide for you?

The commercial I hear often is an advertisement for a Detroit-based law firm run by the Sam Bernstein family. I think that there are four or five Bernstein’s who are ready to handle any legal issue you might have, and this is their repetitive line:

“Call 1-800-CALL SAM! Get the Bernstein advantage!”

I’ve heard this jingle for years, thousands of times. Thankfully, I’ve never had to call them with any legal woes.

About ten years ago I was sitting in church listening to my jail partner preach, and it went something like this:

“Life is going to get hard, people. When it does you’d better know who to call. Who are YOU going to call? 1-800-CALL SAM? Sam Bernstein isn’t going to handle your life when the going gets tough. So you’d better memorize God’s phone number: Jeremiah 33:3.”

He then read that verse, and I never forgot it. It became “God’s phone number” to me, and I’ve called upon that number many times when I’ve needed help, guidance, wisdom, and answers.

My friend, Jeremiah 33:3 is a promise for every believer. God sits ready and willing to answer your call whenever and wherever you need him!

  1. That is a great testimony Eric. I vaguely remember hearing/reading someone giving out God’s number in the past, but it wasn’t Jeremiah 33:3 which is a brilliant promise to hold onto. Personally I certainly would rather have the Jesus advantage than any worldly fakes; He pays out in the bank of Heaven! God bless you today brother 🙏

    1. This also reminds me of Bob Goff. Have you ever read any of his books? Funny, inspiring and full of love! He put his personal cell phone number in the back of his book for people to call him anytime. He is a busy lawyer and consul to Uganda but he makes time to respond to each person who calls him. My daughter and her friend tried it out, and he answered them and talked to them for a while. God is never too busy to answer our call, and I bet He is even busier than Bob Goff. 🙂
