Before I was a Christian, I was a young kid in middle school who loved to read National Geographic magazine. I was especially fascinated by those colorful pictures of foreign lands, different cultures, and ancient locations. It was all a far cry from the simple wooded lands, farm fields, and lakes of northern Michigan.
One of the things that caught my eye was seeing the golden temples all over the world:
These are just three of the temples in the world that are made of gold. They have tremendous value from a monetary standpoint, worth untold billions of dollars. Since I grew up very poor, the sight of such wealth blew my young mind as I flipped through the pages of National Geographic. Any place with that much wealth must be close to God, right?
Three decades later, my thoughts have completely reversed. Those temples exude wealth and opulence, but I know they are powerless without the presence of the living God.
Jesus Christ was crucified and buried in a tomb of earth and rock…there was no gold leaf or gold bar adornment on his tomb. Despite the lack of earthly value, God saw fit to display His great power by resurrecting His dear Son. He that was dead was made alive, and it had absolutely nothing to do with gold or wealth.
I’m so thankful that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead! The tomb is empty! My friends, we don’t need palatial estates or temples of pure gold in this life. Those things don’t impress Almighty God. Jesus came from a “borrowed womb” and was buried in a “borrowed tomb”.
Today, God’s eye is drawn to human hearts which recognize and love the sacrifice and resurrection of His only Son. Have a wonderful Resurrection Sunday! He is risen!

Amen, Brother Eric! Your post reminded me of Jesus’ clash with the Pharisees in Luke chapter 16. (I had to look it up.)😊 He told them, “A man cannot have two masters; you cannot serve both God and money.” And later he added, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God’s sight.”
Clearly, the Lord doesn’t “keep score “ the same way we are prone to do.

That’s so true brother David! How often this life draws us toward the material while the Holy Spirit leads us toward the spiritual and Godly. This earthly battle won’t stop until Christ ends it for good, but until that day may our hearts beat for the Lord more and more! God bless and keep you brother David!
