Meditation Theater

“Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.”
Psalm 5:1

Meditation is simply described as “focused or directed thought or contemplation.”

Imagine that your mind is a theater and your meditations are playing on the movie screen.
Now picture yourself loading the film reels and projecting them onto the screen. You can project whatever you want, after all it’s your mind and your movie theater.

If Jesus Christ were to walk in and sit down in the middle of your meditations and watch your film, would He APPROVE or DISAPPROVE of what’s on the screen?

If you’re actively loading the reels of your mind with junk to meditate on, then you’re setting yourself up for failure.

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
Isaiah 59:1-2

Want God to hear you?
Then be careful that your meditations are righteous so that your prayers will be honest.
If you have wicked imaginations and try to mask them with glowing words, God will not be fooled.

The Lord is watching your film today. (Proverbs 15:3)
Load the film reels of your mind with His Word. (Psalm 119:11)

Keep your armor on.

  1. Thank you for sharing this meditation today brother Eric. It appears to me that the psalmists confidence in Psalm 5:1 comes from a life filled with holy scripture. That should be our confidence as children of God. In this our meditation movies should be wholesome before Him. God bless you today brother 🙏

  2. Great reminder! Will God approve or disapprove of our meditations? I have so many distractions running through my head daily, that I have to interrupt them by speaking the name of JESUS aloud. I pray Psalm 19:14 often: “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

    1. Yes…I read somewhere that we have some 60,000 thoughts on a daily basis….its a real battle to corral, ignore, sort, and process all of those…and then deciding which ones to entertain WHILE going about our daily business is another level of work!
Great verse and so appropriate, Heather!
