Grounded in Truth

The church of the living God must be rooted and grounded in the truth—the Word of God. To stray from that foundation is to open the door to worldly concepts, ideas, and examples to live by. Sadly, that’s the condition of many churches today. They pick and choose which commands and principles to follow, avoiding the ones that are politically incorrect or unpopular in today’s culture.

I can hardly believe how alcohol, homosexuality, and secular humanism ideologies are now accepted norms in many churches.

Where is the Billy Sunday of this generation?

This drifting from truth will only continue as time goes on. The world’s moral compass grows weaker, and many churches follow suit—watering down the gospel to stay relevant. But the true church is called to be different. A church grounded in truth is a pillar that stands firm in a world of quicksand. It’s built on the Rock, not on shifting sand. That’s what makes it alive—a living church in a world of dead counterfeits.

Paul reminded Timothy about the importance of godly leadership within the church, outlining the character qualifications for pastors and deacons. He made it clear that the church’s strength depends not on clever programs or popularity, but on the integrity of its people and the faithfulness of its leaders.

Those who serve the Lord Jesus Christ must live in truth and reflect His character. When the church stands firm on Scripture and guards its foundation, it remains a pillar of truth in a collapsing world. But when popularity invades the church and political correctness drives the pulpit, apostasy soon follows.

Lord, please help your Preachers to be radically committed to your Holy Word, and strenuously opposed to watering down truth for the sake of popularity. May we be people who hold the line of Truth no matter how much the world opposes us for taking a stand for what is right. Amen.

  1. Charlie Kirk was the Billy Sunday of this generation. He made a sincere effort to speak the truth and was murdered for it. Evidently, the populace prefers a watered down “make me feel good” version. Great post, Eric.

    1. Charlie Kirk was a valuable conduit between common sense and this young generation…and he was going “supernova” with his influence. I tend to believe that the “powers that be” were quite scared of his influence and conspired to silence him.
Beyond that, he is now a martyr and has influenced millions to think logically and debate properly…I still watch his exchanges with college students, they are valuable learning tools devoid of any hatred on his part.

    1. Thanks brother Alan, may we press forward in truth…I heard a quote yesterday from Ronald Reagan…referencing a scribbled note written in the flyleaf of a dead soldiers journal during WW1…”America must win this war. I intend to devote my maximum effort every day as if the whole of the war outcome rests on my efforts alone.”

Boy did that bring a tear to my eye. May we as Christians stand for truth as if the influence of the world depended on our commitment to righteousness and truth.

      Have a blessed day brother!
