We often think of God as the Great Overseer, watching His creation with perfect attention. We imagine Him high above the universe, observing us like tiny ants moving across the earth. Because we cannot see Him, we assume He is distant. Because He created everything, we place Him outside and above it all.
But what if we have underestimated the intimacy of God’s involvement?
A computer programmer can build access points into a program. A mechanic can open a panel and examine a machine from within. God, our Creator, knows every intricate connection between our bodies, minds, and souls. He sees everything, but could His awareness of us be even more personal than we imagine?
Scripture tells us that God “searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts” (1 Chronicles 28:9). Proverbs 15:3 declares that “the eyes of the LORD are in every place.” And 1 Corinthians 6:19 reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit.
Here is a thought worth pondering: What if God can see through our eyes?
What if He is not just watching us from heaven, but seeing the world from our individual point of view? What if He knows not only what we look at, but how the sight of something affects us? I believe that to be true. He knows the image that awakens temptation and the moment that stirs compassion. He sees the scene that plants envy or inspires generosity. God knows the thoughts and intentions that follow what we see.
Scripture doesn’t explicitly tell us that God sees through our physical eyes, but it assures us that nothing about our inner lives is hidden from Him (Psalm 139:1–4). Perhaps this possibility invites us to consider just how intimately He knows our daily experience.
Jesus taught that the eye is the lamp of the body (Matthew 6:22–23). What we look upon can influence what we desire and ultimately what we choose.
God is not merely watching your life from a distance. He knows your experience from the inside out. Let that awareness change what you choose to see, what you allow into your heart, and how you live before Him.
Prayer: “Father, help me guard my eyes and understand the influence of what I see. Thank You that I am never beyond Your knowledge or presence. Guide my vision, my thoughts, and my choices. Amen.”

So true, David, and let us also become aware of the fate of those who promote evil that tempts our eyes. “What sorrow awaits the world, because it tempts people to sin. Temptations are inevitable, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting.” (Matthew 18:7 NLT)

You’re welcome, David. We need to hold company leaders accountable for their entertainment and technology decisions. For example, hundreds of young lives lost because of social media’s algorithms. The psychological and spiritual lives of thousands damaged by leaders who allowed AI-generated nudification apps to steal the innocence of children. Serious stuff, and often overlooked or dismissed by parents.

Amen! God is not far away. He is omnipresent. His Spirit dwells within us. It’s sobering to think that He can see through our eyes and knows the temptations that lead us astray. That’s a great reminder to keep our eyes focused on HIM! Have a blessed day, Eric!

The current generation is being exposed to an overwhelming amount of internet and social media smut. They’ll have greater difficulty obeying God’s laws, even if they have a good foundation. 😦
