Building the Wall: Part Two

Building a garden fence takes a lot of planning and time. My fence and wall project started two months ago, and I would love to say all of it is fully installed, set, stained, and ready for the spring planting…but such is not the case.

I feel like my progress is moving slower than a tired turtle. I have set exactly four out of ten posts in the last two weeks. The other six holes are waiting to either receive the remaining posts or break my ankles as I try to work in the dark.

Yes…it’s dark now. In the summer I could work outside until 9:00 pm and still see the grass while I mowed. Now it’s dark and chilly by 7:45 pm…I don’t dare mow after work lest I give my lawn a wild and angry haircut.

When your progress in life gets hampered, you have to count your small victories and keep eyes on the finish line. I have gotten small things done. The three fence panels and all the fence lumber have been moved to the backyard. The fence panels are dry and waiting to be stained and sealed, and I have a plan to get those mounted in the next two weeks.

I don’t know what project you’re working on or what spiritual goal you have, but I want to encourage you to be content in the smallest of progress. Hindrances and distractions happen…but by Gods grace the finish line will eventually be crossed and the trial will be conquered.

Don’t faint, take another step forward today.
