I have praise! And I have plenty of reasons for it!
I was once a crippled soul crawling along railroad tracks toward an oncoming freight train of judgment. Unable to save myself, I was headed for eternal destruction. But Jesus Christ snatched me from those tracks and delivered me from a horrible end. I have praise!
I was floundering in the deep waters of my own sin, caught between its temporary pleasures and terrifying consequences. With no solid footing and no shore in sight, I was drowning. But Jesus entered my filthy world, rescued me, and set my feet upon a rock (Psalm 40:2). I have praise!
I was foolishly crossing the busy highway of life, dodging danger and tempting disaster. But Jesus called me away from my reckless ways and onto the narrow path that leads to life (Matthew 7:14). I have praise!
And everywhere I look, I see reasons to praise my Creator! The flea and the elephant. The stars and the sands. Thunder and lightning. Eyes that see and ears that hear. Delicious foods, brilliant colors, soft fabrics, towering mountains, magnificent canyons, and billions of uniquely fashioned souls. What astonishing wisdom! What breathtaking creativity! “The heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1). I have praise!
I gladly applaud human accomplishments, remarkable inventions, and extraordinary talents. But every ability ultimately comes from the One who gives us life, breath, and understanding. As James 1:17 reminds us, every good and perfect gift comes from above.
My circumstances may change. My strength may diminish. My plans may fail. But my reasons for praising God remain!
Psalm 150:6 declares, “Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.”
And as long as I have breath, I have praise!
Praise the LORD!
