Happy Humility Month!

“But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”  James 4:6

It’s hard to believe that June is already here…what a fast year thus far.

Being June, I’m constantly reminded that this is homosexual “pride month”. This is the month where rainbow flags dominate the landscape and headlines, reminding me that some people are extremely proud of their rebellious sexual sins.

I was watching a news show with my wife and there was a comment made about “gay pride month”…my wife turned to me and said, “Why can’t we have a humility month?”

We laughed thinking about everyone trying to outdo each other seeing who can be the most humble. (Kind of defeats the purpose, I know.)

But think of how pleased the Lord would be to see society embrace humility and thanksgiving for an entire month.

Can you imagine signs in public promoting humility and quiet appreciation for the blessings of God?

Imagine news programs highlighting groups of people who serve the less fortunate in society for a whole month?

That is the kind of society that God wants to bless and multiply. He gives His grace to such people who glorify Him, rather than proudly flaunt their own deviancy and immorality. Pride month can be summed up in three words: “Look at me!”

Will a humble society ever happen before the Lord Jesus returns to rule and reign? I don’t know, but I choose to make June my own month of humility and honor toward the Lord.

God will only bless humility, friends. A proud and boasting society steeped in sexual immorality will inevitably bring His judgment.

The month of June is for the Lord to be glorified and magnified…just like every other month. Happy Humility Month!
