Am I Blessable?

“For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”
Psalm 5:12

Sometimes when I’m praying, I catch myself using repetitious words.
One of those words is “bless”.

“Lord, please bless so and so…”
“Let your blessings flow here…”
“Bless us today…”

And often I have to slow down and scrutinize such a deep word and an all-knowing God who alone provides those blessings.

Blessings aren’t a sprinkling of gold dust from the great beyond.
They’re not “ethereal happenstance.”

Purposed blessings from God are the result of purposed, righteous decisions we make to obey God.

“And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.”
Deuteronomy 28:2

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:”
Deuteronomy 30:19

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”
Psalm 1:1

Just these three verses tell us many ways to be blessed:
Listen to God. Obey His Word.
Choose life. Shun death.
Don’t take spiritual instruction and advice from ungodly people.
Don’t walk like, talk like, sound like, look like, or act like this ungodly, depraved world.
Don’t settle into a routine of disdain and contempt for anyone.

Are you blessable?
If you follow God’s Word and align your thoughts, words, and actions with His…you’ll make yourself a conduit for His blessings. Guaranteed.
God said it, not me.

I hope that you have a
blessable day!
