The Master’s Methods

Imagine trying to predict how God will solve the world’s problems by reading a human strategy book. You’d never come close. God’s methods have always left mankind scratching its head because He delights in accomplishing His perfect will in ways no one expects.

When sin covered the earth, God used a flood to preserve humanity through one faithful family. He spoke through a burning bush to call Moses, then sent devastating plagues to break Pharaoh’s stubborn heart. He parted the Red Sea into a highway for Israel and, moments later, transformed that same path into a watery grave for Egypt’s army. He fed His people with bread from heaven, drew water from a rock, caused the walls of Jericho to fall with marching feet and trumpet blasts, made the sun stand still for Joshua, and even used a talking donkey to rebuke Balaam.

He defended Elisha’s honor with bears, humbled proud kings, preserved faithful servants in a fiery furnace and a lions’ den, and raised a shepherd boy named David to defeat a giant warrior before becoming Israel’s greatest king.

Then came the Lord Jesus Christ. He turned water into wine, walked upon the sea, calmed raging storms with a word, multiplied bread and fish, opened blind eyes and deaf ears, cleansed lepers, cast out demons, and raised the dead. After His resurrection, the Holy Spirit empowered ordinary apostles. Peter healed the lame, Paul survived a deadly viper bite, prison doors opened, the sick recovered, and the gospel spread across the Roman Empire.

None of these methods fit human expectations, yet every one accomplished God’s perfect purpose.

The Master has never changed. He is not limited by our logic, our resources, or our imagination. The God who used floods, donkeys, seas, giants, fishermen, and crosses is still writing His story today. Trust His methods—even when they leave you scratching your head. God doesn’t ever scratch His head in bewilderment!

  1. So true! I am constantly amazed at how God answers my prayers…not how I expected at all. Maybe He wants to leave no question that HE is the One who made a way where there was no way so we cannot explain it away. I’m also convinced that God has a sense of humor.

    1. I agree with all that you said, Heather! And when I ponder things like a talking donkey I believe the sense of humor runs deep with God. When I watch our local chipmunk fill his cheeks with a pound of groceries then attempt to stuff in a whole peanut also, I know God is brilliantly funny.👍🏻😆
